Even Start Family Literacy Program

Columbia County Even Start is a family education program in the Columbia County School System. The program helps parents be more effective as their child's first and most important teacher. Parents improve their own educational and parenting skills in the process.

What services are offered?

  • GED / ESL classes for parents or legal guardians
  • Parenting classes to provide strategies, information, and practical help for parents of young children
  • Free childcare for infants to school-aged children
  • Home visits by trained Parent Educators

Who can participate in Even Start?

Families with children, age birth to seven (7) years old, who want to obtain their GED and/or improve their English Literacy Skills are eligible.
