Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to the
Chrysalis Center! I am thrilled to have the privilege to work
with you and your child this year. I would like to introduce
myself and tell you about what to expect this year at the
Chrysalis Center.
My name is
Chelsea Boyette. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
elementary education from the University of Florida where I
specialized in mathematics and science education. Because of my
certification to teach grades K through 9 and my experiences
working with students of all ages, I am confident my teaching
philosophies, skills, and personality are quite conducive to the
needs of gifted students. My goal is to create a positive
learning environment in which all students feel supported and
capable of success. Such support comes from open communication
among students, parents, and teachers, so please feel free to
contact me.
You may call the
center at 755-8193 with any questions or concerns. You may also
email me at
boyette.c@firn.edu.
We encourage parent volunteers for field trips and other
projects, so please fill out your volunteer form for the
Chrysalis Center. If you have questions about volunteering,
please call Dorothy Spradley, Volunteer Coordinator, at
755-8041.
The overarching
theme for this year will be “Reaching for New Realms.” Mrs.
Patsy Brown will continue as the paraprofessional and teaching
assistant. All gifted students from the following schools will
come to the Chrysalis Center on the days specified below,
regardless of their grade.

The SHUTTLE BUS
will pick students up from the regular school and drop them off
at the Center; please do not bring them yourself. The only
exceptions are students who do not attend public school. The
Chrysalis Center day also ends at the students’ schools as the
bus returns them to their schools in the afternoon.
ATTENDANCE will be
taken daily. All policies and procedures governing your
student’s school day apply to the Chrysalis Center exactly as
they do at the home school. Please call us at 755-8193 if your
child is sick and will not be attending class.
Students may
choose to bring their LUNCH from home, or they may order lunch
to be delivered daily from LCMS cafeteria. The menu is posted
on the bulletin board at the Center, in the Lake City Reporter,
and on the Columbia County Schools website. Students may choose
from a salad, hot sandwich or hot lunch. Each student’s lunch
money will be collected through their school account. Students
enrolled in non-public school are the only ones who pay lunch
money to Mrs. Brown at the Center. Please make sure there is
money available in your account just in case a packed lunch gets
left behind. Many students also bring a nutritious snack for
break time as well. Please do not bring your students a fast
food meal.
